CASA Chicago “Whine” About Winter Event

A few months ago I was approached to help with an amazing event sponsored by CASA Chicago and the Chicago chapter of the National Association of Professional Women-NAPW.  I am happy to have been a part of such a great cause. Below is a brief description of what CASA does from their site.

“For over 29 years, Court Appointed Special Advocates (CASA) of Cook County has been training everyday people to stand up for abused and neglected children in an overwhelmed and extremely under-resourced foster care system. Today there are over 5,500 children in Cook County’s foster care system and CASA can only provide one-on-one support for approximately 10 percent of them.
CASA dedicates one advocate to champion one child or one set of siblings, ensuring that the child’s voice is present in court even if the child is not. Advocates research cases; connect with the child and the adults involved; and provide valuable attention to the case and detailed information to the court. Judges rely on this insight to make the best decisions about children’s futures. Our mission is to ensure each child in our program lives in a safe, permanent home.”

The theme was “Whine” About Winter.  WE had a lovely evening with fantastic wines, a great raffle, and delicious food!  Haus Wine and Spirits donated 2 awesome Spanish wines for the event that were joined by 3 wines from the Boisset Collection. Here was our tasting line-up:

My daughter, owner of The Errand Girls, and a great friend assisted me pouring wine.  We had a fun DJ provide music to keep the event upbeat. Many man hours went into this event. I hope awareness for CASA increases and that more and more children are helped by their work and dedication to their mission. Here is their contact information if you wish to help as a volunteer or in any other manner.
