How exciting is it to be able to spend an evening with your “boss”, savor beautifully prepared food, and drink elegant, luxury wine? Amazing, that’s what! As a Boisset Collection Wine Ambassador, I shared a lovely evening with fellow ambassadors, wine lovers from the Chicago area, and M Jean- Charles Boisset himself at an adorable restaurant called Sepia.
The event kicked off with an information gathering for those interested in joining our growing Boisset family. Melissa Lynch provided all the details as we delighted in two beautiful sparkling wines- a Blanc de Noir Brut from the Carneros vineyards of the Buena Vista Winery, which is located just outside of Sonoma, and a lovely rosé- JCB No 34, a scrumptious blend of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay from the Russian River area.
Onward to the actual tasting…, incredible people, food, and wines…a perfect evening. The guests were again offered a lovely glass of JCB sparkling wine as we waited for everyone to arrive. “Mingling” is quite easy with such a refreshing wine! We took our seats and the official tasting began with flare…Jean- Charles delighted us with the story behind each wine as we passed from one course to the next- five in all! Here is a peek at our menu:
JCB No 16- a white Bordeaux Blend- Sauvignon Blanc and Sémillion/ fluke tartare, yuzu, white soy, red tosaka seaweed, shisho, togarashi- perfect starter
Raymond 2014 Signature Series Chardonnay- “rich, voluptuous, flavorful” / sweet potato and miso tortoloni, brown butter, sage, Grana Padano- sinfully delicious
DeLoach 2013 Stubbs Vineyard Pinot Noir- a beautiful expression of the terroir of Marin County / salmon, brussel sprouts, Beech mushroom, guanicale, red wine matelote- I was in heaven…love, love salmon with Pinot Noir!
JCB 2013 Passion- a traditional Bordeaux blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Merlot / cider braised pork belly, parsnip, apple, onion, jus – having lived in the area north of Bordeaux and a true Bordeaux wine lover, I was in my glory!
JCB No 1- 100% Cabernet Sauvignon from three Napa AVAs- Rutherford, St. Helena, and Oakville / roasted sirloin, Maitake mushrooms, potato Bordelaise- exquisitely balanced, lush, silky smooth…a Cabernet lover’s dream wine!
